Eid’l Fitr or the end of the month long Feast of Ramadan will fall on August 9, 2013. This celebration is one of the most important religious event for all Muslims around the world.
To promote cultural understanding and integration, and to allow us Filipinos to join our Muslim brothers and sister in celebrating Eid’l Fitr, Malacanang has declared August 9 a regular holiday. August 9, 2013 fill fall on a Friday.
Proclamation No. 629
This announcement was made via the signing of Proclamation No. 629 by President Noynoy Aquino ” DECLARING FRIDAY, 9 AUGUST 2013, AS A REGULAR HOLIDAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY IN OBSERVANCE OF EID’L FITR (FEAST OF RAMADHAN)“.
The proclamation was signed August 1, 2013. The full copy of the Declaration is published in the Official Gazzete.
Eid al-Fitr or Eid’l Fitr is also know throughout the world as Feast of Breaking the Fast, Sugar Feast. This religious festival marks the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is the Holy month of Fasting.
Come August 9, let us celebrate Eid al-Fitr with all our Muslim brothers and sisters so that we will become more united in building a stronger nation.
